Why do we love HTMA, and why do we use it with so many of our clients?
Are You Struggling With Any of the Following?
- Low energy
- Imbalanced hormones
- Mood issues
- Gut issues
- Fertility issues
- Sleep issues
Have you been to the doctor, only to be told everything is normal?
Have you investigated your minerals? Minerals are your spark plugs and are the foundation of your health. We often find that mineral imbalances (excesses and deficiencies) may be contributing to many common health concerns.
We feel that HTMA is one of the most valuable tools available to practitioners. It is not a diagnostic test, but it gives us a blueprint to start your journey towards better health.
What Is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis?
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a safe, non-invasive test that uses a small sample of scalp hair to measure more than 35 nutrient and toxic minerals, along with over 25 important mineral ratios.
Read alongside your health history and symptoms, an HTMA report can offer clues about:
- How your body may be using nutrients: are you depleted in minerals, or is your body struggling to make them bioavailable?
- The effect stress may be having on your body: are you burning through minerals under stress?
- How your diet may be fuelling your body
- Patterns that may point to digestion and absorption issues, such as whether you may need more support to break down and digest your food
- Mineral patterns that practitioners associate with thyroid and adrenal activity
- The pace of your metabolism (how all the systems in the body work together)
- Toxic metals, such as lead and mercury, measured in your hair sample
HTMA is not a diagnostic test and does not replace medical assessment or blood testing. We always read your results alongside your symptoms, history and any other tests.
Why Are Minerals So Important?
Minerals are important for growth and development, vitality, healing and immune system function. They are needed for structural support; for example, calcium is needed for strong bones and teeth. They help maintain the body’s fluid and pH balance, for example sodium and potassium. They are also needed for enzyme reactions, energy and nerve activity. Minerals are essentially your “spark plugs”.
Minerals are not made in the body; they are absorbed from the food we eat. Unfortunately, in the modern world we live in, it can be very difficult to achieve the balance we need. Modern farming techniques, the use of glyphosate and other pesticides on our fruit and vegetables, and soil depletion from over-farming all reduce the mineral content of our food. Toxins in our environment, food additives and preservatives, and the stress of modern living also contribute to mineral imbalances.
To support mineral balance, we take a whole-body approach, so that all systems and pathways can work together. We often need to work on energy pathways first, to help the body move minerals out of the tissues. This relies on healthy adrenal and thyroid function and a strong digestive capacity.
